President's Day

While the primary focus of this day is George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, most Americans know a great deal about these two Presidents. Why not take some time today to learn more about the other 42 men who have held this office.

Blow, Blow, Thou Winter Wind...
It may have been in the 50's yesterday, but it sure sounded like winter winds. My house was rocked all night by gusts of up to 60 miles per hour. I thought for sure after coming through the hurricane Ike winds in the fall, that my house would never make it through these winds without harm. I gave a quick survey of the house when I went out for the paper this morning and it appeared that we made it through! Relieved I read the paper and then started working at 7:30. I made a run to the kitchen for coffee a little later and looked out the kitchen window to find that one of my pine trees didn't fare so well. It took a beating in the ice storm and bounced back, but it doesn't appear it made it through this wind storm.

Blow, Blow, Thou Winter Wind Blow, blow, thou winter wind
Thou art not so unkind
As man's ingratitude;
Thy tooth is not so keen,
Because thou art not seen,
Although thy breath be rude.
Heigh-ho! sing, heigh-ho!
unto the green holly:
Most freindship if feigning,
most loving mere folly:
Then heigh-ho, the holly!
This life is most jolly.
Freeze, freeze thou bitter sky,
That does not bite so nigh
As benefits forgot:
Though thou the waters warp,
Thy sting is not so sharp
As a friend remembered not.
Heigh-ho! sing, heigh-ho!
unto the green holly:
Most freindship if feigning,
most loving mere folly:
Then heigh-ho, the holly!
This life is most jolly.
William Shakespeare

Here we go again...

Perhaps on my 38th birthday it is time to start something new. I have started this blog three times before and seemed to lose interest each time, but for some reason, I keep coming back to it with hopes of creating soemthing of interest. I'm not setting any high expectations for this and am going to just kind of see what I feel like posting here. Less filter and more free-form. If you find it and have anything to say - good, bad or otherwise - just do it! Thanks, Doug
